SYNOPSIS

The author of the Love in Provence series returns to the South of France with a poignant portrait of a woman who must learn how to create a new life for herself…

Sixty-two-year-old Arianna arrives in the South of France for a two-week artists’ workshop full of anticipation but burdened by guilt. Back home in Toronto, she has been living with the devastating diagnosis of her husband’s dementia and the heartbreak of watching the man she has loved for decades slip away before her eyes. What does her future hold without Ben? Before her is a blank canvas.

Encouraged by her family to take some time for herself, she has traveled to Arles to set up her easel in the same fields of poppies and sunflowers that inspired Van Gogh. Gradually, she rediscovers the inner artist she abandoned long ago. Drawing strength from the warm companionship and gentle wisdom of her fellow artists at the retreat—as well as the vitality of guest lecturer Jacques de Villeneuve, an artist and a cowboy—Arianna searches her heart for permission to embrace the life in front of her and, like the sunflowers, once again face the light.

SYNOPSIS

When divorced mom Sadie Ford realizes her 17-year-old daughter Scarlett has run away to Paris all she can imagine are terrorist bombings and sex slaves. After learning her daughter chased a French exchange student home, Sadie hops on the next plane in pursuit. She joins forces with the boy’s father, Auguste, and the two attempt to find the missing teens before they can stumble into more trouble. The chase takes Sadie and Auguste to the seedier side of Marseille, where their own connection is ignited. Since the divorce, Sadie has devoted herself to raising kids and putting her dreams on hold, but when her daughter needs her most, Sadie finds that concrete barrier to life beginning to crack. In her journey, she learns the difference between watching the hours pass and living.

VIRTUAL BOOK TOURS 1 and 2
QUOTATIONS

Denise

This highly entertaining novel is the perfect summer read.

Musings of a Writer & Unabashed Francophile

This book was a refreshing read.
I connected with her immediately.
And when the action moved to Paris, I was delighted to be ‘visiting’ one of my favourite cities once more.
Now that I’ve read The Paris Runaway, I think I’m going to need to go read all of Ms Kincer’s other books!

Book and Ink

The highlight of the book would be its narration. Looking at Paris through the writers eyes was sheer blissful. The narration is vivid and the writer has tastefully described Paris.
The characterization was near perfect.
It is apparent that the writer has penned the story with the intent of it being converted into a movie.

The French Village Diaries

This is another great read from Paulita and perfect to escape into while on holiday. I easily imagined I was in France thanks to the location descriptions, the food and the real life Frenchman on hand to add that je ne sais quoi.
There is a good element of mystery too, as each new discovery about where the kids are leads them a bit closer, but always just out of reach, resulting in a wild chase across France with what-ifs, excitement and tension.

Locks, Hooks and Books

I did like this book. It has a perfect combination I love in a story, some laughs, mystery, suspense, adventure, action, and romance. I highly recommend it!

Queen of All She Reads

Colorful characters, the beauty of Paris, even with their current political (terrorism) troubles, and good first person narration make this an enjoyable story.  If you’ve ever thought of running away, but don’t quite have the freedom to do so, you’ll want to pick up a copy of this book – you can escape for a couple of hours.

Svetlana’s Reads and Views

I highly recommend Paris Runaway because its highly engage-able, has a romance with a much older woman and for me a wonderful cocktail of something light, informational and quick.

Bookalicious Traveladdict

I enjoyed this book for many different reasons.
I loved the descriptions of all the sites and sounds of Paris
I read it in a couple of sittings. I would be interested to read more from the author.

Andrea

This was an interesting look at a woman who takes care of everyone except herself.
I did enjoy this book and would recommend it.
