More than a metaphor and much more than a dance, the Tango takes Cherie from being a widow with suicidal tendencies to traveling the world in search of herself, finding love, sorrow and serenity. Her quest takes her to France where she falls in love with aristocratic Olivier, and to Argentina where she falls in love with the tango. Along the way she discovers and deals with her own two separate breast cancers and the loss of all that she’d previously valued. Relationships in the desperate singles world is a whole new dance to learn, before being blessed at the Church of Tango.

The Church of Tango captivates readers struggling with tragic loss, illness, and death, as well as those who are passionate about travel and adventure, who long for love, or who delight in dance of all kinds.

Unshelfish

A very inspiring story of a woman navigating her way through loss, her own health crisis, poor choices in men – never less than with determination, independence and utter drive. Her love of the tango was intoxicating, leaving me with the hope of mastering this passionate and sensual dance.
Thank you Cherie for sharing your story in such a blunt and raw manner. Your boldness and decisiveness is nothing but inspiring. Your spirit stays with the reader long after the memoir ends and the last dance called.

An Accidental Blog

Cherie’s love for tango was the passion that took her on her adventures, and I truly enjoyed the journey along with her in her well-written memoir.

Book Nerd

I thoroughly enjoyed this memoir and learned about the courage it takes to start over and follow ones passion!

 Lisa’s Yarns

My favorite part of the book was her initial trip to Paris as she comments about how Paris felt more like home than anywhere else did at the time, which is a sentiment that I can completely relate to.

Mommasez…

Along with the developing story lines, Molay has come up with a delightfully gruesome and intriguing murder… I have to give this book five stars!!

Finding Time To Write

Interesting twists and bizarre clues along the way will make you want to devour the book as quickly as possible, but this is no superficial action-filled thriller. If you like crime fiction with heart and more subtle thought (and not always a fully wrapped-up parcel of an ending), Frédérique Molay is an author you will enjoy.

The Discerning Reader

The impeccable details, well developed characters and a stellar narrative all create a suspenseful thrilling series. Molay certainly demonstrates her gift of riveting authorship… Well presented all the way around, no surprise it’s not immune to acclaim in France, excellent.

Valli’s Book Den

With this discovery I was completely drawn into the story and the series of events unfold quickly with more puzzles for Nico Sirsky and us. One mystery leading to another and finally the solution… It is a fast read. I finished it in a couple of sittings. Interesting Police procedural. Looking forward to other Nico Sirsky books.

Books Are Cool

Too many crime writers get caught up in overdoing the dry details of terminology and technology used in forensics departments, but here we have descriptive, beautiful details about settings, personalities, relationships – everything.

I Am, Indeed

Honest and gritty descriptions are not always for the faint of heart, and for readers who enjoy procedurals, this mystery will keep them satisfied. Most certainly a read in one sitting title, but I did need the lights on later.

Bookish Wanderlove

Crossing the Line was an enjoyable read that kept me on my toes! I look forward to picking up the first book in this series and The City of Blood which comes out January 18th, 2015! If you want to read a great mystery book that isn’t extremely predictable than I suggest picking this up!

Book Nerd

Molay is a very good writer.  She knows how to keep the readers anticipating and intrigued with the mystery.

Musings of a Writer and Unabashed Francophile

The connections between characters and to the finale were artfully done, subtle enough that it kept me guessing. I love mystery novels where it isn’t obvious who the villain is, or how/why they’ve done what they’ve done.
I’m looking forward to the next in the series, and hope that Le French Book will continue to put out these fantastic translations.

Words And Peace

With her most amazing creativity making your hair stand on end, the famous French writer Frédérique Molay delivers an outstanding thriller that will captivate you from end to finish. Follow the expertise of multiple actors to figure out who did what to whom and why. Surprise guaranteed!

SYNOPSIS

In May 1914, Helene Noisette’s father believes war is imminent. Convinced Germany will head straight for Paris, he sends his wife, daughter, mother and younger son to Beaufort, a small village in northern France. But when war erupts a few months later, the German army invades neutral Belgium with the intent of sweeping south towards Paris. And by the end of September, Beaufort is less than twenty miles from the front.

During the years that follow, with the rumbling of guns ever present in the distance, three generations of women come together to cope with deprivation, constant fear and the dreadful impacts of war. In 1917, Helene falls in love with a young Canadian soldier who was wounded in the battle of Vimy Ridge.

But war has a way of separating lovers and families, of twisting promises and dashing hopes, and of turning the naïve and innocent into the jaded and war-weary. As the months pass, Helene is forced to reconcile dreams for the future with harsh reality.

Lies Told in Silence examines love and loss, duty and sacrifice, and the unexpected consequences of lies. [provided by the author]

“On a tiny French island, a couple of American dreamers redefine their lives by restoring a ruin—which in this lovely, shimmering story becomes a parable of a saner, greener, more sustainable path that we all can follow if we will but listen to the wisdom of the villagers the way the Wallaces did. The French House moves to a soulful, very funny rhythm all its own.” – Meryl Streep – See more at: http://www.sourcebooks.com/store/french-house.html#sthash.EZxaUrnJ.dpuf

TOUR QUOTATIONS

The Fictional 100

Tod has a clear, flowing writing style; her prose spins out in a rolling, companionable way with just enough added description to create a sense of immediacy for the reader–so important to the success of any historical fiction… This novel was a five-star read for me, and I highly recommend it!

Caffeinatedlife.net

Lies Told in Silence is a well-written, well-researched novel of the time period and setting. The author does a wonderful job in bringing the struggles of World War One–from the men suffering at the front, to the families waiting in strained anxiety for news of their loved ones and struggling to make do with what they have–to life in the pages…
Readers of historical fiction and novels set in France and during World War One will want to check out this title.

Readerly Musings

The descriptions in the story were nothing short of beautiful. Each one was cinematic in its writing and gave a true sense of the characters’ surroundings and experiences. At times authors focus more on action and dialogue rather than description, therefore it was a wonderful reprieve to be able to experience the story as though you were there.

Queen of All She Reads

If you like reading historical novels or historical romance, Lies Told in Silence is a book you’ll want to add to your list; filled with well-developed characters, the colorful and emotionally charged background of war and a young woman’s first romance, this is quite an enjoyable book.

Making My Mark

I smiled, wept, cheered, laughed, and gasped. It’s a wonderful story that hooked me and when I found at the end that it continues in another book I wasn’t upset at all. I’m glad it isn’t over just yet.

Impressions in Ink

I became invested in the story in the first few pages. Their welfare and future kept me reading till the last page.

The French Village Diaries

This book is a powerful emotional read that I recommend to anyone who enjoys historical fiction and I’ll be really happy if Mary has more to write.

Words And Peace

For lovers of historical novels, the best way of reading something special at the occasion of the anniversary of WWI is to grab the latest book by M. K. Tod. Full of true to life characters and details on this somber page of French history, it will make you relive these dreadful events as if you were there, in the company of a normal family in northern France.

Book Nerd

Although a lengthy book, it was a worth the read and it was very satisfying.

The Bookish Owl

Lies Told In Silence was a lovely story and while the romantic relationship between Helene and her Canadian soldier failed to live up to my expectations, the individual growth the characters experienced amid conflict and strife is definitely worth a read.
