ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Liza Perrat grew up in Wollongong, Australia,
where she worked as a general nurse and midwife for fifteen years.
When she met her French husband on a Bangkok bus,
she moved to France, where she has been living
with her husband and three children for twenty years.
She works part-time as a French-English medical translator,
and as a novelist.
Since completing a creative writing course twelve years ago,
several of her short stories have won awards,
notably the Writers Bureau annual competition of 2004
and her stories have been published widely in anthologies and small press magazines.
Her articles on French culture and tradition have been published in international magazines
such as France Magazine, France Today and The Good Life France.
Spirit of Lost Angels is the first in her French historical trilogy, The Bone Angel Series.
The second – Wolfsangel – was published in October, 2013,
and the third, Blood Rose Angel, is published in November, 2015.
She is a founding member of the author collective, Triskele Books and reviews books for BookMuse.

The Discerning Reader

I could not tear myself away from this book. Liza Perrat has now joined the ranks of my favorite authors.  The first few pages hook you and never let up. I tore through this book so quickly I was sad when it ended. Yes, I found it that enjoyable.
Perrat has a way with words, her style is fluid and flows easily, downright solid and mesmerizing.
Fans of historical fiction, strong, independent and smart women, those with an interest in midwifery and herbalists will enjoy. Perrat’s writing style along with outstanding execution is reason enough to add to your TBR.

I experienced that absolute bliss of time travel with this book.
With flawless and progressive characterization and each characters emoting to dot, the story was simply magnetic. I had to finish the book off!

It ‘s a historical medieval novel, really engaging and interesting. I have been captured from the first page and I could not put it down. With well defined, complex characters, an engaging and well developed plot, this is a fantastic story to get lost in.
This was a great read that left me turning the pages, eager to know what was going to happen next. The author does a great job in describing vividly the village and its traditions, she makes you feel like you are actually there.
I have no hesitation in recommending it highly.

Musings of a Writer & Unabashed Francophile

This book was a fantastic historical novel.
Definitely a book worth reading, both for its plot, which was well-paced and intriguing, and for its historical detail. I think I’m going to read the other books Ms. Perrat has written, since I finished this one so quickly.

I’d Rather Be Reading

I first stumbled on the Bone Angel series two years ago and was immediately hooked. Perrat is very good at transporting her readers back in time and immersing them in the world of her characters.
Just one side note, don’t start this book if you have to put it down soon for work or school…it’s too addicting! The story is full of nail-biting drama and surprise twists (no spoilers!) that kept me turning the “pages” on my Kindle long after my bedtime.

It’s a Mad Mad World

For all the darkness in this book, there are also light moments, and I think the balance between the darkness and the light is the thing that makes this book so wonderful to read. It’s an emotional reading experience.
I was deeply moved by the story.

Bookramblings

I don’t think I’ve read anything set during the Black Death from the common people’s point of view so this was a change for me.
I liked Héloïse who was strong and kind even after all the hate she’s gotten from the villagers. She didn’t give up trying to find a solution to defeat the plague.

The author did such a good job in her writing that you felt as if you were right there along for the ride with her. I like the way this book was written, I felt as if a friend was sharing her diary with me.
