18th century. I enjoy books in that era. I enjoy history but the 15th century goes further back than I like.

I think they are both equally interesting, but I would probably choose 15th century France because I feel like so much less is written about that time period.

18th century France because of the associated opulence.

I would choose the 18th Century. It has all the positives that Anne articulates so well in her earlier comment. Plus, 15th Century France is not far enough away from France’s notorious 14th Century, which Barbara Tuchman immortalized in her tome A Distant Mirror: The Calamitous 14th Century.

Tuchman’s book is fantastic!

18th Century in France brought enormous social changes, major scientific discoveries and French cities had their own cafes, theaters and salons. This is a fascinating time to read about since it is meaningful and interests me greatly.

Exactly, and there’s a lot about theater at the court in this one!

Oh my this is a hard choice! I think I will have to settle on 15th Century France and The Sword of the Maiden though. This is a historical time period that is fascinating to me as there were so many things that changed during this time and forged the way for the future of modern humanity. It is all spell binding to me

I would be in the same quandary! The Middles Ages is my favorite period, but I hate to tell you, both books are fantastic!!
