A Very French Christmas: The Greatest French Holiday Stories of All Time is a joy to hold and page through, as it is beautifully produced–not surprising since it comes from New Vessel Press.
I have described so many stories, because they were all so fascinating, just as the book’s subtitle promises. The Christmas themes are treated with a refreshing originality and variety, and I can imagine returning to reread this collection for many Christmases to come.

The French Village Diaries

This selection of Christmas tales was full of beautifully written pieces.
Culturally I learned a lot and was certainly glad to make my acquaintance of some of France’s great writers. I am looking forward to re-reading this book nearer the festive season and now that I’ve dipped my toes into the literature of some of France’s greats, I’m keen to read more.

Yes, these are good stories. More than that, they are remarkably good stories. So good that I think I’ll go back and read them again.

I feel like this is a nice little book that shows the differences in culture and tradition of a French Christmas toward, for me, an American Christmas.
I would definitely recommend this book if you like to read about other cultures.

Library of Clean Reads

If you love memoirs set in France, like stories about the expat life, are a foodie or love to cook, then you will love Bonjour Kale. It’s heartwarming, inspiring, fun to read and it’s a clean read. It’s one of the best books I’ve read this year.

Fascinating and very honest memoir of a New York expat in Paris, about her courageous mission and dedication to kale, despite obstacles found in a new culture and a difficult language.
One of the most fascinating memoirs I have read for a while! Plus, it’s about France, Paris, and kale. All good reasons to love Bonjour Kale.

I relish books that include recipes, and I was definitely inspired to cook with kale as a result of reading this memoir.
I loved Bonjour Kale!  It’s a merveilleux memoir, a well-written, intelligent story of success, and I enjoyed reading it very much.

Kristen converted me to like kale through a few chapters.
The Kale Project is a fun read that I did not want to put down.  The book has a number of recipes that I am sure you will want to try out.

I loved how the author was able to take her life story about moving to another country and incorporate it into the book it really made the story feel very honest and heartfelt.
I loved hearing the challenges of learning a new language, culture, as well as trying to find a new job all in one book.

The author has done an amazing job researching things about kale and introducing it to those who are new to the craze, as well as making it an exciting fish out of water story about a young woman who has moved to France and the daily struggles she experiences while living life there.

Musings of a Writer & Unabashed Francophile

This book was a refreshing read.
I connected with her immediately.
And when the action moved to Paris, I was delighted to be ‘visiting’ one of my favourite cities once more.
Now that I’ve read The Paris Runaway, I think I’m going to need to go read all of Ms Kincer’s other books!

The French Village Diaries

This is another great read from Paulita and perfect to escape into while on holiday. I easily imagined I was in France thanks to the location descriptions, the food and the real life Frenchman on hand to add that je ne sais quoi.
There is a good element of mystery too, as each new discovery about where the kids are leads them a bit closer, but always just out of reach, resulting in a wild chase across France with what-ifs, excitement and tension.

I did like this book. It has a perfect combination I love in a story, some laughs, mystery, suspense, adventure, action, and romance. I highly recommend it!

Queen of All She Reads

Colorful characters, the beauty of Paris, even with their current political (terrorism) troubles, and good first person narration make this an enjoyable story.  If you’ve ever thought of running away, but don’t quite have the freedom to do so, you’ll want to pick up a copy of this book – you can escape for a couple of hours.

I highly recommend Paris Runaway because its highly engage-able, has a romance with a much older woman and for me a wonderful cocktail of something light, informational and quick.

I read it in a couple of sittings. I would be interested to read more from the author.
